The Davis family mourns the loss of Boyd Harry Davis, who passed away in Medicine Hat, Alta. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the age of 68 years.
Boyd was born in Esterhazy, Sask. on Feb. 8, 1955, to Harvey and Doris Davis. He was raised on the Davis family farm, NE of Whitewood, Sask. Boyd met the love of his life, Irene, in October of 1974, sharing 48 years of marriage together. They moved to Brooks, Alta. in 1977 and eventually settled down at the Lake Newell North Headgates in 1986. Before moving to Brooks, he worked in various jobs which included the Regina Auxiliary Police Service, farming, insurance sales, as well as a grader and fuel truck operator. In 1974, he received his automotive mechanic certificate in Moose Jaw, SK. After moving to Brooks, he studied one year of heavy-duty mechanics at SAIT, Calgary, Alta. in 1979.
Boyd and Irene started their own business “Boyd’s Head Repair” in 1980. He worked as a mechanic until 2000, when he was forced to cut back due to health problems. He continued to enjoy helping neighbours and friends with their mechanical problems when he could. Boyd’s hobbies and interests were working on and playing with remote controls of any kind. He enjoyed tinkering on anything concerning mechanics, little or big.
Boyd enjoyed the outdoors, this included boating, fishing and hunting whenever he got the chance. He loved to fly and even fulfilled a lifelong dream of skydiving. Music was a huge part of his life and was regularly found wearing earphones and getting lost in the music he loved.
Boyd was proud of his children and the adults they became. He had a great love for his grandchildren, hearing their laughter and of their accomplishments.
Boyd is predeceased by his parents, Harvey Thomas Davis and Doris Viola Davis; brother, Arnold Brookes Davis; and in-laws, Diedrich and Mary Wiebe, Trudy Adams, Linda Norris, Henry Wiebe and Larry Wiebe.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Davis; his children, Sarah Anne Solomon (Chris and Carson Solomon), Douglas Boyd Davis, Zenath Irene Yates (Steve, Aston, Thomas, Mariella Yates) and Doris Mary Davis (Scott, Gracie and Heath McColl); his siblings, Melvyn Davis, Dreena Davis, Ronda Brickley, Myrna Mossing; and in-laws, Abe Wiebe, Dorothy Hunter, John Wiebe, Margaret Titley, Jake Wiebe, Susan Gagnon, Danny Wiebe and their families.
