It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Keller, peacefully in his sleep at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, SK. He was 93 years of age.
Alfred was born on the family farm near Lemberg, SK. He married the love of his life, Lily Schatz, on Oct. 29, 1950. They began their life together on the farm by Neudorf, SK, where they were blessed with four children. They retired in 1996 to Melville, where they enjoyed bowling, coffee with friends, playing cards, and where Dad became an avid golfer.
Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Valentine and Kathryn (Bieber) Keller, all his siblings, and granddaughter Kimberly Gattinger. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 70 years, Lily (Schatz); children Brenda (Casper) Schulte, Bruce (Phyllis) Keller, Laurell (Rodney) Gattinger and Roger Keller; grandchildren Derek Keller, Lisa (Ken) Woodhouse, Chad (Melissa) Schulte, Rochelle Schulte, Curtis Gattinger and Tanya Gattinger; and great-grandchildren Sheydon Woodhouse, Sarena Woodhouse, DJ Keller, Kaden Osmond Schulte, Abby Schulte and Marie Rose Schulte.
Alfred’s funeral service was held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, with the Rev. Don Koch presiding. Organist Marguerite Koch led in the hymns, “Abide with Me”, “Just As I Am”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Lord, Take My Hand and Lead Me”. Interment took place in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Neudorf, SK, with Chad Schulte, Lisa Woodhouse, Sheydon Woodhouse, Sarena Woodhouse, Derek Keller and Curtis Gattinger acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
