Date of Death: May 14, 2026
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, Edward Albert Eritz, husband of the late Doreen Eritz, passed away suddenly but peacefully at Melody Manor at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. He was 90 years of age.
Born May 9, 1936, in Togo, SK, he was the son of Rosina and Karl Eritz. He grew up in
Rhein, SK, with his brother, Gus Steberl being raised by his mother as the only parent. He was given great support by the Weinmaster family who had a great influence in teaching him many of life’s lessons such as farm work and inspiring a love of the farm. He started working at Korb Motors as a teenager in the parts department, commuting from Rhein, with his brother Gus, in the early years. The business was later sold to Logan Chev-Olds.
On July 23, 1956, he married Doreen Foster. They lived in Yorkton and raised three children. Ed left his job at Logan Chev-Olds and they purchased the Pacific 66 Carwash in 1972, where he put in long hours and employed two of his children in part-time jobs. Five years later, he purchased the farm at Insinger, giving him the most joyful and rewarding years of his life. He farmed in partnership with his son, Terry, and loved socializing with farm friends. He retired and sold the farm in 2016, moving back to his home in Yorkton. In January of 2023 he moved to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home where he participated in the activities with the staff and other residents.
Ed was predeceased by his wife Doreen; his mother Rosina; father Karl; and brother Gus; as well as many good friends and neighbours.
Left to celebrate his life are his children, Karen Legge (David), Terry Eritz (Sharlene) and Linda Bender (Perry). His grandchildren, Krista Vandermeulen (Greg), Lindsay Perry (Troy), Holly Legge (Chris Schneider) Heather Eritz-Britton (Matt), Mitchell (Lisa) Eritz, Justine (Dan) Sturgeon, and Ryan Bender. Great grandchildren Kade and Cole Vandermeulen, Gavin and Carter Perry, Karly, Will and James Eritz, Leo and Rose Britton. He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was happiest on the farm and with his family.
A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Crystal Bailey officiating. The interment followed in the Garden of Memories, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Holly Legge serving as urn bearer. Memorial donations in memory of Ed Eritz may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice as gifts of remembrance. Condolences may be left for the family at www.baileysfuneralhome.com
