It is with profound sadness that the family of Ileen Alberts announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026 at the age of 96 years in Edmonton, AB.
Ileen will be lovingly remembered by her children: Sharon (Don), Francie (Marv), Cathie (Chris), Denise (David) and Jeff (Leizel); her grandchildren: Frank, Kurt (Christy), Dale (Rachelle), Alexandria, Abigail, Gillian and Oliver; two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mavis Alberts; and several nephews and nieces.
Ileen was predeceased by her husband, Edward John Alberts; infant daughter, Lois Mary; parents Herman and Maria Gerger; brother Herman, Jr.; sister Anna (Gerger) Reid; their spouses; parents-in-law Frank and Florence Alberts; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nephews, and nieces.
Ileen was born near Springside and lived her formative and early teaching years in rural communities such as Theodore and Jedburgh. Ileen and Ed spent their early married years, raising Sharon and Francie, in Melville before moving to northern Saskatchewan, then northern Alberta; eventually residing in St. Albert, AB and the surrounding area. Ileen fondly remembered her years visiting family and friends throughout Saskatchewan, most notably in and around Melville, Yorkton, Saskatoon and Regina; ensuring that upon being widowed her three youngest children grew up familiarized with their family roots,
particularly the Alberts, Gerger, Griffith and Groff families.
A Celebration of her Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, a mental health or Pride organization of your choice.
