Leadell Jean Barre was born in Regina, Sask., on Aug. 19,1962. She was the youngest child of Herminie (Krudus) and Richard Barre. Her family included sister Louise Bishoff and brother-in-law Bob; nephew Jason (Lucie) and their children
Justin and Samantha; niece Erin and her children, Kaiden and Cohen Godlien; and niece Theresa (Sean) and their
children, Marcus and Bennett Campbell.
From the time she was very young, Leadell had the ability to make you smile. She found joy in the simple things. As a young girl, she enjoyed going to Wascana Park to feed the geese. She had the ability to see the beauty in the flowers and everything around her. Leadell was very proud to be an auntie and great-auntie. She enjoyed hearing about the activities the children were involved in and what they were doing. Leadell remembered every birthday in the family. She would ask to speak to us and sing the birthday song. Holidays were special for Leadell. She could never wait for Christmas Day or her birthday to open a present. As soon as a present arrived, she would have to open it. Leadell looked forward to going to work. She would tell you everything that happened, as well as who worked with her. Leadell took an interest in people and listened to stories about their families and friends.
In retirement, Leadell participated in all the activities available to her. She looked forward to each and every bingo game. Everyone would know when she called “BINGO”! Leadell would call Bob and discuss how her winnings should be spent. She looked forward to buying little gifts for people with her winnings. It took awhile for Leadell to get to know a person. Once that happened, she would take an interest in that person’s life and listen to their plans for the day. The next time you met with her, she would want to know how everything went. Leadell had a very special caregiver. They developed a strong bond over the years. The care and attention made the last years of her life fulfilling and was very much appreciated. We say goodbye to a loving and caring person who made each day brighter for being in it. She will be missed by so many. We would like to thank St. Paul Lutheran Home and St. Peter’s Hospital staff members for all the care and attention given to Leadell.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
