It is with great sadness that the family of Daryl Rodney Maurer of Grenfell, SK announce his sudden passing on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 at the age of 69 years. Daryl passed away where he loved to be the most, on the farm.
Starting at a very young age, he began working on the farm, learning the ropes. Eventually, he and his brother Lavern took over the dairy farm from their dad. Daryl enjoyed the dairy aspect of the farm, while his brother looked after the grain operations. His kids knew him best for his non-stop corny “dad jokes” that always gave everyone a chuckle. Whenever his family was in need of a helping hand he was always there. He enjoyed many hours of woodworking in the basement on cold winter evenings and in the summer he enjoyed cruising around the farm on the gator with the dogs, making sure everything was in order. His pride and joy since retiring was his antique John Deere ‘R’ tractor that he liked tinkering with and hauling to tractor pulls with his family cheering him on.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Nancy of 49 years; his children: Leanne and Burt (Justine), Troy and Linda (Rachel and Trevor), Carla and Troy (Levi and Brody), Paula and Landon (Austin) and siblings: Darlene, Lavern and Janet (Damian and Megan) and Glen and Deidra (Alysha and Garrett). Predeceased by his mother Alma and father Ernest.
A family service was held in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, Wolseley, SK on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. A live streaming recording of the service is available at www.tubmanfh.com.
