Elaine McMain of the Grenfell district, passed away Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 92 years.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, David; her parents, Martha and Milton Swanson; and sister Gloria Swanson. She is survived by: siblings Jeanine (Gordon) Cornell, Audette (Don) Clunas and Lorne (Agnes) Swanson; son Linden McMain; daughters Shannon (Phillip) McDonald, Brenda (Hall Mah) McMain and Kelly McMain; grandsons Sean (Kylie) McDonald and Dr. Richard Mah; and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Kipling SK, Elaine’s father worked for the CNR, and the family lived in numerous locations before settling in Fort Frances, ON. She completed her RN training in 1951, married in 1952, and moved to Summerberry, SK. She worked in the Grenfell Hospital and the Wolseley Care Home until she retired. Elaine lived in the community until her death.
A private graveside service will be held at the Summerberry Cemetery, Friday, June 7, 2024. A public memorial gathering will follow at the Legacy Inn, 800 Ennis Avenue, Grenfell. Friends are asked to gather there for 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Memorial donations may be made to Broadview Hospital Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Broadview Union Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
