Date of Birth: August 7, 1930

Date of Death: December 23, 2018

Lois (formerly Harrison) Holthouse passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018 in Port Hope, Ont. Born Aug. 7, 1930 in Grenfell, Sask. to Constance and Victor Harrison, she was predeceased by her husband, Geoff in 2013; her sisters, Dorothy Hunter in 20O8, Ruth Hahn in 2015; and brother-in-law, Jeff Hunter in 2007.
Lois leaves to mourn: Geoff’s sisters, Elizabeth, Mary and Gwen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois and Geoff resided in Whitby, Ont. for most of their married life. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind demeanour and her inimitable laugh. The latter often caught the attention of strangers in movie theatres and doubtless will be turning the heads of angels now. She was a wonderful hostess and cook and delighted in entertaining friends and family. National and international politics was another of Lois’ passions and her scrupulous daily reading of the Globe and Mail not only made her the resident source of information, but frequently fuelled conversations on those topics.
In recent years, Geoff and Lois were lovingly cared for by close friends, Jeanne and Dennis Keiser of Port Hope, Ont. who along with their five children, spouses, and grandchildren, provided family for them for over 40 years. Jeanne, together with Marion Irwin another dear friend, shepherded Lois vigilantly through various transitions as her care needs increased. No words can express Lois’ family’s deep gratitude to Jeanne and Marion for their unwavering and exemplary support.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Mount Lawn Funeral Home in Whitby in the spring of 2019. The date is yet to be determined.
