It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Wilhelmine “Minnie” Schramm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Home at the age of 91 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Issel (nee Hollinger); husband, Louis Schramm; son, Mark Schramm in infancy; brothers, Carl and Phillip Issel; brother-in-law, Fred Cameron; and son-in law, Zenon Luby.
Minnie is survived by her two children, Verna Luby and Larry (Dorothy) Schramm; sisters, Mary (Ernie) Hollinger, Emily Cameron, Joyce (Len) Schienbein , Margaret (Glen) Armbruster and Betty Ann (Fred) Hawman; five grandchildren, Jason (Terri) Luby, Lisa (Vaughn) Irlbeck, Lori Schramm (Tom), Curtis Schramm and Ashley Schramm (Brett); two great-grandchildren, Grace and Hanna Irlbeck; and step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Harrison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Minnie was a strong-willed and determined lady with a kind and caring heart. She was an excellent cook and an even better baker and was able to whip up a meal in no time, usually consisting of homemade perogies and cabbage rolls, for anyone who just stopped by to visit.
She was also very crafty; knitting and quilting were many of her favourite pastimes.
She loved to socialize and was involved in many community clubs, enjoyed visiting with neighbours and playing cards until the wee hours of the night and going to bingo. She enjoyed gardening, and no weeds were ever left behind.
Minnie’s funeral service was held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Melville, Sask., on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 with Pastor Doug Schmirler officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Minnie’s memory can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
Interment followed in the Melville Municipal Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
