Date of Birth: December 6, 1934
Date of Death: December 26, 2025
The family of Lorraine Harris of Yorkton, beloved wife of the late Don Harris, sadly announce her passing on Dec. 26, 2025 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. Her daughters Donna, Joanne, Gail, and most of her grandchildren were able to spend her final day with her sharing stories, Christmas carols and remembering all the fun family times.
A Celebration of Lorraine’s Life will be held when the flowers are blooming on Friday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, which was Mom’s wish.
Memorial donations may be made to Westview United Church, Pancreatic Cancer Canada or to The Harris Hope Foundation (through the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation) as gifts of remembrance.
Lorraine was born in Swan River, MB on Dec. 6, 1934. She lived with her parents, Helen and Dmytro Serenchuk in Manitoba until the family moved to Yorkton where she attended high school. This is where she met the love of her life, Donald Harris.
Lorraine and Don lived and raised their family in Yorkton for over 58 years. Early on, she worked as a stenographer and court reporter for Saskatchewan Social Welfare, with the Yorkton Chamber of Commerce and a legal office. She was a Deputy Returning Officer in federal and provincial elections, a Census Commissioner, a bookkeeper for Yorkton Cycle & Sporting Goods, and involved in many committees, community fundraising events, family reunions and other special events with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Yorkton Trap Club, the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation and Ducks Unlimited to name only a few. How she found the time and energy to not only raise three girls, but also to tackle many carpentry, renovation and painting projects over the years. Oh, and she could sew, knit and crochet too. Certainly, a woman of many skills and interests!
Lorraine was an avid curler, gardener, knitter, loved downhill skiing, fishing, costume parties and camping with the family. She was an active volunteer over the years with the Yorkton Figure Skating Club (past president) and with the Creators group at Westview United Church, where she knitted many prayer shawls for congregation members. Lorraine was known for her fabulous cooking and baking (already missing her scuffles, Saskatoon pies and carrot cake), her beautiful flowers and garden, and always being eager to help others. She had an open door and welcoming table for all the cousins, neighbours and friends in the community. She had so many good friends from all her activities in Yorkton over the years and will be dearly missed by all. She will be remembered as a very special lady for her loving friendships, her smiles, her wise advice and her laughter.
Lorraine celebrated her 91st birthday on Dec. 6 with her close friends and family. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to Saskatoon to be closer to family over Christmas.
Thank you to all her friends and family for their love, kindness and friendship with mom, dad and our family over the years. Special thank you to the compassionate medical staff in Yorkton, Canora, Regina and Saskatoon and to Wendi and Drew Stumborg and their staff who supported mom in her final days at the Prairie Springs Personal Care Home in Saskatoon.
Arrangements for Lorraine have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care.
