Date of Birth: January 2, 1958
Date of Death: June 26, 2026
The family of Donella Cmoc of Yorkton, beloved wife of Bruce Cmoc, sadly announce her passing on Friday, June 26, 2026. She was 68 years of age.
Donella Cmoc (Cyhla) was born Jan. 2, 1958 to Bernadette and Laddie Cyhla. She grew up on the Cyhla farm near Churchbridge where she spent many happy and fun days with her sisters Linda and Judy, brother Randy and cousins. During the summer months in high school, Donella’s dad would drive her to Banff to live with her auntie, uncle and cousins, where she would help them with their Bed and Breakfast business. She worked hard and excelled at school and in sports, especially ball and curling.
After furthering her education in Regina, she moved to Yorkton where she worked at RAM Industries, then the Bank of Montreal. She met the love of her life, Bruce Cmoc, and the two were married on June 14, 1980. Donella supported Bruce and his business partner in the creation of Yorkton Welding and Machine, a business which has grown to have clients all across the Parkland Region and beyond. Donella was the first person to greet you on the phone or in-person, managing all administrative operations – and so much more.
Donella and Bruce had three daughters whom they raised on the farm near Yorkton. She was incredibly proud of her girls and each of them are reflections of her kindness, ambition and enthusiasm. She adored her grandchildren and enjoyed their visits to the farm where they would always have something on the go and an ice cream in hand. The farm was Donella’s happy place. It was the perfect place for her to watch the skies for any activity and keep everyone updated when a storm was beginning to form. She enjoyed combining, preparing meals for everyone during seeding and harvest time, planting trees, and going on golf cart rides with Bruce around the yard, reflecting on the life they had built together or dreaming about what project they would start next.
Whether she was tending to her multi-acre garden, preserving or baking treats in the kitchen, knitting or crocheting, going for a quad or snowmobile ride, relaxing at the cabin, or simply spending time with family, Donella put her heart and soul into each moment spent on earth.
Donella’s traditions, recipes and love of gardening will continue to live on through her loving and supportive husband Bruce, daughters Kristy (Allan), Mandy (Tyson) and Jody (Aaron) and grandchildren Shane, Kendra, Jayton, Georgia and Hayden, as well as all her family and friends everywhere.
A visitation for relatives and friends was held on Monday, July 6, 2026, from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. All were welcome to come and share stories and memories of Donella. A private memorial was held for Donella’s immediate family. We thank everyone for sharing stories and kind messages of condolence. Donella was always an advocate and supporter of education, learning and research. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey’s Funeral Home and Cremation Care.
