Mrs. Agnes Zwirsky, beloved wife of Edward Zwirsky of Yorkton and the Jedburgh district passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with her husband Edward by her side. She was 73 years of age.
Agnes was born on March 29, 1952 in Yorkton, a daughter of Metro and Annie (nee Wasylowich) Spilchen. Agnes grew up on the family farm in the Fone Hill district and in 1966, the family moved to Yorkton.
Agnes met Edward in 1968, and they married in 1969. Once married, Ed and Agnes moved to the Zwirsky family farm. Agnes raised four children while tending to the house, garden and livestock. Agnes loved cooking, her flowers, her big yard, and dancing but most of all she loved being with her family. Agnes was a very kind women who loved to feed everyone that stopped by for a visit. Coffee was always on.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Metro and Annie Spilchen, mother and father-in-law Sidney and Helen Zwirsky, brother Peter Spilchen, sisters Madalyn Sterner, Doreen Lezon and Pauline Dennis.
Agnes will be sadly missed by her husband, Edward, and her children, Michael (Ivana) Zwirsky, Bev (Darren) Fookes, Debbie (Don) Kerr and Allan (Jen) Zwirsky, her nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren, her sisters, Elizabeth Petrowsky, Katie Petrowsky, Evelyn (Allan) Tymko and brother, Walter Spilchen and many nieces and nephews.
A Prayer service was held on Friday, Feb. 20th and Funeral Services were held on Saturday, Feb. 21st, 2026 all from Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Fr. Jeffrey Stephaniuk & Crystal Bailey officiating. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by daughters, Debbie Kerr and Bev Fookes. Grandson, Colton Zwirsky served as the crossbearer. Interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemane in Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Connor Zwirsky, Justin Fookes, Mikhayla Zwirsky, Kyle Kerr, Darren Fookes and Don Kerr serving as the casket bearers. Memorial donations in memory of Agnes may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan 301-2550-12th Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan S4P 3X1 as gifts of remembrance.
