Date of Birth: July 25, 1964
Date of Death: March 19, 2025
Kelly McMain of the Summerberry district passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 60 years.
Kelly was born in Indian Head, SK, on July 25, 1964. As was usual for Kelly, she did not want to miss a great party, which was her great-aunt and -uncle’s 50th anniversary!
Kelly grew up in Summerberry, SK, and attended elementary and high school in Wolseley. After graduation, she moved to Brandon, MB, for her first year of an electronic technology course at Assiniboine College. Her second year was completed at Red River Community College.
After finishing her schooling, Kelly moved to Burstall, SK, to work at TransCanada Pipelines Ltd. This was her first year of a long career with TPCL. From Burstall, she transferred to Upsala, ON; this was a place she felt completely at home. There she made many life-long friends, especially Rick Green (aka the Jackpine Savage). She loved fishing, boating and weekend camping trips to the many islands around the area. From there, she moved back to Regina to work in the regional office of TCPL. Kelly later moved back to Winnipeg to attend university, taking electrical engineering. She then was employed by Tarko. After she retired, she started her fun job working as a commissionaire for the RCMP at Broadview.
Kelly was always the fun aunt to Sean and Richard. It’s a good thing the kids were there because someone had to be the adult!
Kelly will be sadly missed by her brother, Linden McMain, and her sisters, Shannon McDonald (Philip) and Brenda McMain (Hall), as well as nephews Sean and Richard. She
was predeceased by her parents, David and Elaine McMain; Grandma and Grandpa McMain and Grandma and Grandpa Swanson; and Rick, her life-long buddy.
A graveside service was held for Kelly in the Summerberry Cemetery on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, with the Rev. Dong Joo Kim officiating and Sean McDonald as the urn bearer. Her life was celebrated at a public gathering following the interment. Memorial donations in Kelly’s memory may be made to the Regina Humane Society.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville and Whitewood.
