Date of Birth: June 22, 1962
Date of Death: March 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Gail Cheveldae (Huska) on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Yorkton Regional Health
Centre. We say goodbye to a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.
Barb was born on June 22, 1962, in Grandview, MB, to William and Rose (nee Chubey) Huska, and she grew up on the family farm in the area. While attending school in Grandview and Melville, Barb’s love of music was evident. She was involved in the music programs, playing the clarinet and enjoyed playing the keyboard. She was also a majorette and loved twirling baton.
Barb was a great cribbage player, and if you dared to play a game with her, you usually lost. Many hours were spent playing crib with Dad, Mom and her family.
Barb married Dan on June 22, 1985, in Grandview, MB. They lived in Melville, SK, where they had two charming boys, Jeremy and Chris.
In the summer, Barb enjoyed looking after her garden and a beautiful variety of flowers and plants around the yard. In the winter, she enjoyed bowling. Barb took much pleasure in reading and doing puzzles of all kinds.
Barb’s big heart really showed in all the ways she spoiled and spent time with her two beautiful granddaughters, Kensley and Everley.
Barb was predeceased by her grandparents, Peter and Hannah Huska and Mike and Molly Chubey; her in-laws, John and Eleanor Cheveldae; her father, William Huska; brothers-in-law Barry Hubenig and Sid Klynstra; numerous aunts and uncles; her cousin, Kenny Lukey, and nephew Brian Hamel; and her beloved cat, Serena.
Barb is survived by her husband of 39 years, Dan; her son, Jeremy (Lynette) and granddaughters Kensley and Everley; her son, Christopher; mother Rose Huska; siblings Lorna (Glen) Turner, Murray (Cathy) Huska, Sandy Klynstra, Jan Huska, Terri (Murray) Fox and Barry (Julie) Huska; sister-in-law Valdeen (Larry) Mathies; brothers-in-law Dave (Dalyce) Cheveldae and Tim (Mary) Cheveldae; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Our heartfelt thanks goes out to the doctors and nurses in Melville and Yorkton for the kind and caring attention Barb was blessed with in her last days.
Barb’s funeral service was held Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, with the Rev. Brian Mee officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
