Pauline was born Jan. 26, 1941, in Saskatoon, SK; she was the oldest of five girls. She attended Aston School for most of her education, then Bangor School with the exception of her Grade 11 year when she went to school in Edmonton, AB. She then finished her Grade 12 at Bangor School. Pauline married the “man of her dreams”, Joe Ward, on Oct. 15, 1960. Pauline and Joe farmed and raised the majority of their children on the farm that Joe grew up on. Pauline had many different jobs over her life; she was the janitor for Bangor School for many years, worked at Donut World and the AG Kuziak building in Yorkton. She was the cook at the Classic Inn in Melville while still living on the farm.
In the fall of 1984, Pauline and her family moved to Melville, SK, to the house she was living in up until her death. Once in Melville, she was the head cook at the Cameo restaurant, the Flamingo restaurant and then the King George Hotel restaurant; she retired while at King George.
Pauline was active in her community and church. She had many different roles while a member of All Saints’ Anglican Church in Melville, as well as being an active member at both the Bangor and Llewellyn Anglican churches. She loved curling and watching sports, any sports, especially ones that included her family and friends, as well as the Melville Millionaires, where she proudly wore the title of “Mama Mils”. She couldn’t go to a game without someone making a special trip to where she sat to say “Hi!” to Mama Mils.
Pauline had the biggest heart and always had room for more. It didn’t matter who her family would bring into her life, be it a girl/boyfriend, potential spouse, friend or casual
acquaintance, Pauline included them in her life, and they were now part of her family.
As one of Pauline’s daughters has commented, “We can take comfort in knowing she is dancing with her husband, Joe, rocking her daughter, Lindamay, in her arms, and having coffee with all her sisters who have gone before her.”
Pauline will be greatly missed by many; however, her smile will always be with us in our hearts.
A prayer service was held Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, followed by Pauline’s funeral service at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Melville, on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, with the Rev. Kim Sherwin officiating.
