Gloria Marie Ritter, 89, of Regina, SK, (formerly of Melville, SK), died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, at Regina General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Gloria is lovingly remembered by her son, Robin (Iffat) and grandsons Aden (Leslie) and Logan; daughter Nancy Pilon (David) and granddaughter Sara; and son Jeff (Leanne) and granddaughter Lindsay. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was born on June 28, 1935, to Tom and Mary Mosewich in Cana, SK. After finishing school, she moved to Melville and worked at the Royal Bank, where she met the love of her life, Ralph. They married on Dec. 17, 1955, and they were devotedly together for 57 years until his passing.
Gloria was known for her active involvement in the community. She was involved in several athletic organizations such as the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness Association (SSFA) in track and field, where she competed and won numerous events. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi, the Kinettes and the K-ettes.
Gloria and Ralph travelled extensively and spent over 20 perfect winters in Arizona in the company of friends. Their many years there led to a number of hobbies and activities such as hiking, stained glass work, silver smithing and ceramics. She also loved her summers at the cottage at Crooked Lake, where many laughs and good times were shared with friends and family.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ralph, and her brothers and sisters.
We are grateful for the life we shared with Gloria and are comforted that she is at peace and reunited with Ralph, whom she missed so much.
A funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 3, 2025 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, with the Rev. Ron Shumba officiating. Yvette Beutel gave the eulogy and the congregation listened to some of Gloria’s favourite songs. Interment took place in Melville City Cemetery.
