Date of Birth: February 11, 1940

Date of Death: February 19, 2023

The family of Leona (Rubisch) Novakowski of Melville,  widow of Raymond Novakowski, partner of Clarence Adams, sadly announce her passing on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023.
Leona was 83 years of age.
As per Leona’s wish there will be a private graveside service at a later date.
Leona was born on Feb. 11, 1940 in the Grayson district to George and Eva (Gaveronski) Rubisch. Leona ventured out into the work world at age 16 and worked many different jobs until her retirement at age 65, while she was employed as a housekeeper at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Leona loved to garden, bake, play cards, attend dances and have coffee with friends or tea with her niece. Leona was the ultimate Grandma and Great-Grandma and took great interest in whatever the youngsters were up to. Whether it was caring for grandchildren with chicken pox or sitting at the park with a picnic watching over great-grandchildren, nothing was too much for her.
Leona was well known for her fruit cake which she baked for many years and gifted to her friends, even this past Christmas she directed her daughter to bake the cakes to ensure those on her list received their gift. If Leona had a motto it would be “A Little Bit of Kindness Goes a Long Way”.
Leona leaves to cherish her memory: partner, Clarence Adams; daughter Charlotte (Brian) Morris, their son Branden (Krystal): great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Logan, Grayson, Owen and Adalyn; son Greg and his children, Brandon; Blaise (Lisa): great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hope and Merrick; Brittany: great-granddaughter Dream; Taneeka (Jason): great-grandchildren, Ridge and Arbor.; niece Shannon; and nephews, Jasen, Blair, Brent, Murray and Tim.; as well as neighbors and friends.
Leona was predeceased by her husband Ray; parents, in-laws; siblings, Harold (Sylvia), Diane Wihlidal and Bernie (John) Gottschalk.
Arrangements are by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Services, Melville.
