White Butte RCMP is reminding motorists that travel is not recommended as blizzard-like conditions are affecting the area.

“Please heed the warnings against travel,” says S/Sgt. Jason Sauve, White Butte RCMP Detachment Commander. “The snow is hitting hard right now. Our officers are being dispatched to motor vehicle collisions and semis that have slid off the road. In particular, the bypass is extremely icy. If you don’t have to be on the roads tonight – don’t be.”

As the work day comes to a close for many people, a reminder that if you absolutely must travel, check the road conditions at your departure point as well as your destination. For the most up-to-date highway conditions, check out the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline map at: http://hotline.gov.sk.ca/map.html.

Winter weather is making travel difficult not just in White Butte but across the province today and the snow/freezing rain is not likely to let up until tomorrow.
