Date of Birth: February 12, 1936

Date of Death: April 1, 2021

Alvin “Moth” Miller, 85, of Melville, SK, ended a long battle with Congestive Heart Failure on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
Al was born on Feb. 12, 1936 in the District of Grayson. He was the beloved only son to Jack and Mary (Armbruster) Miller. He received his education at Cana School.
On Nov. 16, 1963 Al married his sweetheart, Mary Kuntz. The couple celebrated their 57th anniversary in 2020; they were blessed with five children: Dwayne (Shawna), Scott (Lois), Gwen (Lee),
Donna (Garth), and Shelley; plus 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Al worked in retail for many years, most notably managing both Melville and Yorkton Eaton stores, later becoming superintendent and greenskeeper of the Melville Golf Course. Al was an avid sports fan and proud supporter of many local teams including the Melville Millionaires hockey and Millionaires baseball teams. He also enjoyed following the Toronto Blue Jays, Saskatchewan Roughriders and his much-loved Winnipeg Jets, who he was thrilled to see in person in 2017.
Al was a well-known accomplished golfer, winning numerous trophies and awards over the years, finally obtaining the elusive hole-in-one in 2017! His second home was the Melville Golf Course which he took pride in being a member and contributing to its upkeep and maintenance. He was also an avid curler and cribbage player, winning several provincial titles, having the opportunity to travel nationally with his teammates.
Al contributed greatly to the community of Melville over the years, as an active member of not only the Melville Golf Course, but the Legion, Kinsmen and the Elks.
Crooked Lake held a special place in Al’s heart where he enjoyed many years, sharing with family members and friends.
Al will be remembered for his quick wit, love of sports and zest for life. He will be missed dearly by family and his many friends and acquaintances.
We feel comforted that he has been re-acquainted with those who left before him, and that he is once again enjoying a round of golf.
A funeral mass was held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. from St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church in Melville with Father Andrew Sowa, OMI, as the Celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
