Eleanora Julian Augustie (nee Lutz) Lubachowski, better known as Eleanor, of Lemberg, SK, passed away peacefully, and went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019, in Wolseley, SK.
Born March 22, 1930, on a farm three miles north of Lemberg, Eleanor was the youngest daughter of Mathias and Melitta (nee Kaduhr) Lutz. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith May 25, 1930, and confirmed March 25, 1945, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lemberg by Pastor John Kroeger. She attended Lemberg school and later helped her parents on the farm.
On Oct. 28, 1950, Eleanor was united in marriage with Arthur Lubachowski, also of Lemberg, in Trinity Lutheran Church. This union would be blessed with two loving sons, Jack and Gary. Art and Eleanor lived in town until 1952, when they sold their new home and purchased the Laidman farm where Eleanor had been born and raised.
Eleanor loved the outdoors and took great pride in working her yard and garden. She enjoyed her family, including her grandsons Jack Jr., James and Mathew; granddaughter Jillian; and great-grandchildren Colby, Noah, Kaleb and Hudson; loving them all and watching them grow up.
Eleanor loved her Lord and Saviour and always took time to start and end her day with Bible readings, prayers and devotions.
Eleanor was predeceased by Art, her loving husband of 64 years, on Feb. 21, 2015; her parents, Mathias and Melitta Lutz; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Matilda Lubachowski; sister Cecilia (Harold) Graff; sisters-in-law Emilie Myer and Elsie Stuermer; niece Nadine McMillan; and nephews Jim and Bob Stuermer and Eldon Graff.
She leaves to mourn her passing beloved sons, Jack (Brenda) and Gary (Gwenda) Lubachowski; grandsons, Jack (Jacqueline), James (Jill) and Mathew Lubachowski; granddaughter Jillian Lubachowski; great-grandsons Colby, Noah, Kaleb and Hudson Lubachowski; as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Eleanor’s funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemberg, with the Rev. Victoria Mwamasika officiating. The organist, Maureen Pfeifer, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “Jesus Still Lead On,” “Day by Day” and “Blessed Assurance.” Readers were Mathew Lubachowski, Jillian Lubachowski and Jill Lubachowski. The family recessed out to a gospel song chosen by Eleanor, “Build My Mansion Next Door to Jesus” by Gene Watson.
Interment took place at Lemberg Cemetery with Jack Lubachowski, Gary Lubachowski, Jack Lubachowski Jr., James Lubachowski, Mathew Lubachowski and Jillian Lubachowski acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
