Date of Birth: July 1, 1925

Date of Death: September 6, 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of “Jack” – husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. Jack passed peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 in Regina at the age of 93.
He was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe (Joe) and Elizabeth; sister, Dorothy Hough; brother, David Livingstone; brothers-in-law, Earl Hough and Adam Mack and sister-in-law, Jean Livingstone.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances; daughter, Donnie and her son, Ryan (Stephanie); her son, Eric (Anne); daughter, Sarah (Mark) and her son, Drew; her son, Noel (Robin); and her daughter, Julie; and his son, Richard (Mike). Jack also leaves to mourn his great-grandchildren, Hunter, Archer, Logan, Amelia, Xavier and Sarah; as well as his sister, Catherine Mack; and nieces, nephews and friends.
Following his service in the Navy during the Second World War, Jack was an x-ray technician with the Saskatchewan TB Survey. This is where he met Fran — they were soon married and opened the Scenic Service on Highway 10 in Fort Qu’Appelle. When the house started to fill with the young ones, Jack began with Canada Post and eventually became Postmaster in Fort Qu’Appelle. He transferred to Indian Head in 1973 where he retired in 1990 and then moved to Regina in 2005. He has spent 28 years since he retired, enjoying his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and hockey, hockey, hockey!
In fact, hockey was a prominent part of Jack’s life including involvement as a player in early years, moving on to coaching and administration. Highlights included participation in a series of coaching clinics in Moscow during the 1974 Canada/Russia series; serving on the SAHA and CAHA executive (1976-88); accompanying the Notre Dame Hounds midget team to Japan (1980); winning the 1977 Provincial Championship with his Midget AAA team; induction into both the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall of Fame as a builder developing minor hockey in the province.
He continued to love his sports right up until the end. In addition to hockey he was very involved in the community serving as town councillor and as Mayor in both Fort Qu’Appelle and Indian Head. He enjoyed these activities immensely and accomplished many things with his colleagues. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
We are so grateful to the many health professionals who have assisted Jack, especially over the past two years. Special thanks to the wonderful home care nurses and caregivers, the team at Seniors Health Calls, Dr. Hettie Bouwer and Dr. Patel; favourite pharmacists, Anastasia and Marshal; those at Provincial Home Oxygen and College Park I, and in the end, the doctors and nurses in emergency and on 4B at the Pasqua Hospital.
Friends wishing to make donations in memory of Jack, may make them to the Mainline Minor Hockey League, Box 821, Balcarres, Sask. S0G 0C0, the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 1231 – 8th. St. East, Saskatoon, Sask. S7H 05S or STARS Ambulance Service, 2640 Airport Road, Regina, Sask. S4W 1A6.
The family will say farewell in a private graveside ceremony. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2018 at the Legion Hall in Fort Qu’Appelle at 2 p.m.
