JOHNSON – Marie Johnson passed away peacefully at St. Paul Lutheran Home, Melville, Sask., on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018 at the age of 84 years.
Marie was born in the Grayson district to Henry and Theresa Exner on Nov. 27, 1933. In 1963, she met Arthur Johnson, and they were united in marriage on April 3, 1964.
Marie and Arthur purchased their first home in Killaly and resided there for 53 years where they were blessed with and raised their four daughters.
Marie was one of the best homemakers you could find. She sewed, knitted, crocheted, quilted, baked and preserved every vegetable and fruit that was out there. She made many wedding cakes and carnival outfits and enjoyed every minute of it over the years.
Marie and Art were blessed with eight grandchildren. They enjoyed playing many card games with friends and neighbours and were always treated to some coffee, lunch and homemade goodies afterwards.
Her strong faith in God and the many years of being part of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Killaly were very evident to anyone who knew her. It was truly fitting that the Lord called her home on the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Marie was predeceased by her loving husband of 51 years, Arthur, in June of 2015; daughter, Sherry, in December of 2013; and a son in infancy.
Marie is survived by her three daughters: Wanda (Kevin) Paradis, Kabri and Taylor; Lori Rathgeber, Danielle, Jade and Jenna; Tammy (Guy) Forsyth, Jordyn and Rylan; and grandson, Mitch Nicholas. She was blessed with many special friends and relatives who were near and dear to her heart.
A graveside service was held for Marie on Saturday, Aug.18 at St. Elizabeth Parish Cemetery, Killaly, with the Rev. Fr. Andrew Sowa, OMI celebrating.
Arrangements entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
