HNATIUK – Jerry Dmytro, of Melville and Goodeve, beloved husband of Donna Hnatiuk.
Jerry entered his eternal rest on Monday, March 19, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville at the age of 75 years.
Jerry was born at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville on Oct. 16, 1942 the youngest of 20 children to Dmytro and Mary Hnatiuk.
Jerry recalls going with horse and cutter to the schools he attended, Crescent Bluff and Drumague, graduating from high school at Goodeve in 1961. He attended motor mechanical school at Saskatchewan Technical Institute at Saskatoon.
All Jerry’s life was spent on a mixed farming operation growing grain and raising cattle with his dad and his brother Terry. Jerry continued to farm after his dad and Terry passed away.
Jerry met the love of his life Donna Klettke in 1997 and were united in marriage on Feb. 20, 1999 at the Pentecostal Church in Melville. Jerry’s love for farming continued after their marriage, driving out to Goodeve and looking after the farm and cattle until 2018.
From October 2007 to present, he served as a councillor for the RM of Stanley.
Jerry enjoyed farming, sports and spending time with Donna. All of Jerry’s life he had a passion for dogs.
Predeceased by his parents; his siblings and in-laws.
Jerry leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Donna; his sisters, Eleanor Dorish and Cecille (Henry) Friesen; brothers, Paul (Hattie) Hnatiuk, William Hnatiuk, Eugene (Violet) Hnatiuk, sisters-in-law, Frances Hnatiuk, Ruth Hnatiuk and Alexandria Hnatiuk; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Prayer service was held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 7 p.m. from St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Melville, SK. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 10 a.m. from St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Ray Lukie C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral Home, Melville.
