Date of Birth: May 24, 1938
Date of Death: February 10, 2018
e 79 years, died on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, SK.
He was born in Regina, SK, on Tuesday, May 24, 1938, to James and Bertha Rose and was the second of three children.
James “Ron” took over the family farm as a young man and never looked back. Farming allowed him to do what he loved to do most, working with his cattle, riding his horse and growing crops. Ron had a passion for nature and enjoyed going up north to fish and hunt. He loved taking his family camping and cooking the daily catch over an open fire.
Ron was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and gave of his time freely. He was always there with a hug when needed; we never doubted his love – family was family!
Ron was predeceased by his parents, James (Bud) and Bertha; son, Richard; brother, Robert; and niece, Susan Braithwaite.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 50 years, Kaye; daughter, Laurie (Richard) Koval and their children, Katelyn and Parker; daughter, Ronda (Aaron) Hahn and their children Austin and Samantha; son, Ken (Carey) Rose and their children, Morgan, Emett and Brooke; grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Sydney and Makenna; sister, Betty Braithwaite; nephews, Robert (Chrissy) Braithwaite and their children Taylor, Megan and Emily; and James Braithwaite (son Tyden).
Ron’s funeral service was held Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, with the Rev. Brian Mee officiating. Ronda Hahn presented the eulogy and organist Shirley Blakley led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Morning Has Broken,” “In The Bulb There Is A Flower” and “This Is God’s Wondrous World.”
Interment took place in the Melville City Cemetery with Austin Hahn, Aaron Hahn, Kenneth Rose, Richard Koval, Robert Braithwaite and James Braithwaite acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
