Date of Birth: October 13, 1939

Date of Death: June 3, 2017

Norman Herman Steininger was born October 13, 1939 to Frank and Christina Steininger in Grenfell, SK. He was baptized and confirmed at Grenfell Peace Lutheran Church. Norman was raised on a farm. He learned how to work hard from both his mom and dad. Norman could fix almost everything and would figure out how to invent things for his own purposes. It was said that Norman should have patented some of his inventions.
In his early teens Norman went to Estevan, SK where he was employed by Fleetway Trucking. He was transferred to their Edmonton firm. After a time he went to work for Regent Drilling, a division of Fleetway Trucking. He worked in the oilfields of various locations and different firms. One firm in particular, Brinkerhoff Drilling, left Norman with many proud memories. In the spring of 1962, he started farming as well as working for Brinkerhoff Drilling. After Norman quit working in the oilfields he went into raising rabbits as well as grain farming. Being an adventurous guy, he started still another sideline business, installing satellite dishes and putting up TV antennas. When he sold the rabbits and farm, he went into TV repair and electronic sales full time.
Following retirement Norman, being a health and wellness guy, tried his hand at gardening. Being an inventor he made a seed planter so his carrots and beets would be evenly spaced. He started his cucumber and cantaloupe in the house and then he transplanted them outside. A picture-perfect garden indeed. He made his own sausage, made flapjacks from his own ground flour, made yogurt and processed his garden produce, putting up over 2,000 one-half pint jars of vegetables and fruits. Norman lent a helping hand to many people, shingling, helped move buildings, moving appliances, being a taxi driver for people who couldn’t drive anymore, doing snow removal or whatever the need may be.
Norman went home to his Lord and Savior, Saturday June 3, 2017 at the age of 77 years. A private graveside service was held for the immediate family by Pastor Gerald Andersen, on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Norman was predeceased by his father, Frank Steininger in 1978; his mother, Christina Steininger in 1999; three sisters, (one in infancy), Joan Ramstead and Irene Velestuk; one brother, Lloyd Steininger; two brothers-in-law Sam Velestuk and Irvin Sluz; and one sister-in-law Marge Steininger.
Norman leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Cindy (Roger) Philippon, Willow Bunch, SK; grandson, Dallas (Jill) Phillipon, Swift Current, SK and their family, Jade and Marlee; granddaughter, Chantal (Jeremy) Lewchuck, Prince Albert, SK and their family Saydee and Macey; granddaughter, Charla, Edmonton, AB; and granddaughter, Lacey (Don) Bohemier and their family Millie; two brothers, Clarence (Bonnie) Steininger, Alvin (Darlene) Steininger, all of Grenfell, SK; three sisters, Joyce (Jack) Golchesky, Oakshela, Sask., Daylene (Wayne) Issel, Saskatoon, SK, and Lillian Sluz, Cranbrooke, B.C. and numerous nephews and nieces.
