Mary Byski of the Ituna Pioneer Health Centre in Ituna, Sask., and formerly of Goodeve, Sask., entered her eternal rest on Monday, May 29, 2017 at the age of 90 years.
Mary was born on March 29, 1927 at Abernethy, Sask. to the late Petro and Olena Byski.
Mary spent her childhood years on the farm at Abernethy and attended Heather School up to the time when the family bought a farm southwest of Goodeve. Mary attended Late Star School until the end of Grade 9. She stayed on the farm with her brothers until 1998 when the farm was sold. They moved into Goodeve.
In June of 2010, Mary moved into the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Center where she enjoyed the company of other residents and social events.
Predeceased by her father, Petro in 1965; mother, Olena in 1975; brother, Andrew in 2007; and brother, Daniel in 2011. Mary leaves to mourn many cousins and friends.
Prayer services were held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 7 p.m. from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Ituna, Sask.
Funeral service were held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Mel Slashinsky officiating. The cantor was Yvonne Panchuk and palmar was Peter Kwasnitza. Christina Byski was the cross bearer and banner bearers were Ted Prymak and Donald Byski.
Interment followed in the Holy Ghost Parish Cemetery in Goodeve with Gerald Klus, Erwin Heuchert, Dave Kish, Andy Rahn, Brian Byski and Andrew Kozey as the casket bearers.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral Home, Melville.
