Lionel was the son of the late Urbain and Alma Brule (nee Topinka).

Lionel grew up on the family farm near St. Hubert’s district and attended school in Whitewood.

He leaves to mourn his children: Sandris (Jason) and their son Zane, Melissa (Nathan) and children Tyson, Abigail and Abel; his siblings Tony (Darla), Liz (Lorne), Wilfred (Brenda), Monica (Don), Helen (Terry), Maurice (Wendy), Bernard (Kim), Dennis (Hilda); many nieces and nephews, extended family (the Taggert’s); friends as well as the Stadnick families.

Lionel and Reta married August 14, 1976. Reta passed away May 23, 1997 which left Lionel with a broken heart. They had made a home in Radville, and after Reta’s passing he moved to Landis with his girls, working for the Co-op.

He held many positions through the Co-op and was busy with many sports and volunteering.

Lionel retired after 41 years with the Co-op and moved back to his home town of Whitewood. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, spending time with family and of course the Roughriders.

He passed away peacefully March 17 with his girls, siblings, sister and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews by his side.

He is now with the love of his life and will be greatly missed by all.

Friends and family gathered to remember Lionel on Wed., March 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Whitewood Legion Hall and interment was at Whitewood Cemetery. Heather McEwen officiated and Matthews Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
