Date of Birth: February 20, 1930

Date of Death: January 7, 2017

Leonard Pfeifer was born Feb. 20, 1930 on the family farm near Lemberg, Sask., to John and Ida Pfeifer. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 86 years.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents, John and Ida; son, Ken; and daughter-in-law, Shirley.
Leonard leaves to mourn and to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 65 years, Marilyn; his children: Bill (Shirley), Cathy (Doug) Seidel, Maureen (Doug) Gwilliam, Bob (Maureen), Jim (Tracey), Julie (George) Dimas and Shirley Pfeifer (Graham Lloyd), as well as a great many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Thompson; and brother, Ron Pfeifer.
Len’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He took great pleasure in attending large family gatherings, quietly shaking his head at some of the stories he heard. Leonard was a proud farmer his whole life — he and Marilyn moved off the farm just over a year ago. He was proud to know that the farm they created will carry on in the family.
Leonard was a great community man, serving on many boards and committees and he
loved the great outdoors, especially the golf course, where he always said he felt closer to God. His church and his faith were always forefront in his life and that never waivered. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of Leonard’s life was held on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemberg with Pastor Victoria Mwamasika officiating. Organist, Lorraine Geres, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Beautiful Saviour,” “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” and “It Is Well with My Soul.” Readers for the service included Chris Dimas, Jill Gendall and Kimberly Engel and the eulogy was read by Doug Seidel.
Interment took place in Lemberg Cemetery with all of Leonard’s grandchildren, great-
grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law acting as pallbearers and honour guard.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
