Vangie was born to Fred and Jean Anne Jordan on Monday, June 17, 1918 near Griswold, MB.  She passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Whitewood, at the age of 98 years.

Vangie and her family moved to Whitewood when she was eight.  She married Oliver Hoggarth on March 10, 1940, and they had three sons, Gerald, Larry and Murray.

Vangie enjoyed a wide range of interests including baking and gardening, but she was quite content to make a pot of tea and visit with friends as she was a real people person.  For this reason, and many others, she will be greatly missed at the Whitewood nursing home.

Vangie was predeceased by her husband Oliver, sons Larry and Murray, and daughter-in-law Irene.  She is survived by her son Gerald (Christine); a sister, Emiley; a brother, Bob; a sister-in-law, Selina; a daughter-in-law, Helen; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Vangie’s funeral service was held on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Whitewood United Church in Whitewood.

Rev. Barbara Wilkins officiated the service and pianist Bonny Velestuk led the congregation in singing of the hymns “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace”, “I, the Lord of Sea and Sky”and “Beyond the Sunset”.  Interment followed in the Whitewood Cemetery with Gerald Hoggarth, Ken White, Wayne Matthews, Eldon Hoggarth, Keith Wadham and Brent Thompson as pallbearers.  Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood.
