Leslie Boyd Blyth was born May 20, 1918 north of Wapella, and passed away May 28, 2016 in Broadview Hospital at the age of 98 years.

Leslie took his schooling in Wapella. In 1935 he played hockey with the Wapella Juveniles when they won the Crocodon Cup. He also enjoyed playing ball, curling and hunting.

In 1938 he moved to the Parkin District where he met his future wife. Les married Laura Skinner on December 25, 1941. They began farming on the Percy Stephens farm in the St. John’s District with three cows to milk. They both enjoyed animals, sports and country life. In 1980 they retired and moved into Whitewood. They also spent many winters in Texas.

Les was predeceased by his wife Laura, sister Freda Beer and brothers Ernie House and Stan Blyth.

Les is survived by his children; son Gordon (Irene) of Whitewood and their children Shannon of Calgary, Garrad (Janine) of Balgonie and Ellen of Regina; son Lloyd (Elaine) of Swift Current and their children Clifford (Carmen) of Eston, Kevin of Waldeck, Jennifer (Cory) Olfert of Swift Current and Laurie (Dusty) Sauder of Yellowknife; nine great-grandchildren; sister May Knowles of Campbell River, and brother Bill (Doreen) Blyth of Whitewood.
