Date of Birth: December 16, 1918

Edward Bierwagen
1918 – 2016

Edward was born on the family farm near Fenwood, Sask. on Dec. 16, 1918. After spending time in the Canadian army, he married Jeannette Boileau in 1945 and settled back in the Fenwood area where they raised four children: Sharon, Loretta, Roger and Neil.
After Jeannette’s passing in 1980, Edward married his childhood sweetheart, Clara Werk in 1985, at which time they settled in Chilliwack, B.C.
Ed worked very hard on their farm raising his family during some very tough years, but continued to support all of his extended family who joined them during summer vacations to assist with the chores.
During the winter months, he passionately followed the hockey season and attended as many games as he could. After retiring, his passion for growing things continued with his maintenance of an immaculate yard and a garden full of fresh fruits and vegetables. He continued to watch hockey games from the edge of his chair and challenging his friends and family to a good game of dominoes.
Ed will be truly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather whose passion for life was understanding how things worked, fixing/creating gadgets and being outdoors. He loved teasing his grandchildren and always offered a warm welcome to anyone who stopped by or passed him on the street.
Our family would like to thank the staff of Crystal Ridge Manor and his home care team for all the kindness and support they provided to our dad over the past year and a half.
