Marguerite (Flick) Gamble of Whitewood, SK, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2016 at Whitewood Community Health Centre at the age of 86 years.

Marguerite was born on May 14, 1929 on the family farm near St. Hubert, a younger sister to Lawrence, Henry and Mary.  She attended school at St. Hubert and Forget.  She went to work at the Whitewood Hotel and married George Gamble on November 12, 1947.  They farmed south of Broadview until a move to Regina in 1955, where they raised their three sons.  Twenty years later, they returned to actively farming the land.  Semi-retirement involved George and Marguerite moving to Whitewood, wintering in Yuma, Arizona for many years, and summers at their cottage at Bird’s Point.  Marguerite had been a resident of the Whitewood Nursing Home for the past two years.  The family wishes to express their gratitude to all those who helped make Marguerite’s later years comfortable and enjoyable – especially the staff of the Whitewood nursing home.

Marguerite was predeceased by her son Ken Gamble, parents Albert and Azeline Flick and brothers  and sisters-in-law Lawrence (Dorothy) Flick and Henry (Eileen) Flick, brothers-in-law Paul deLaforest and Hugh McEachern. She is survived by her husband George, son Ron (Hilda) Gamble,  daughter-in-law Donna Gamble and son Morley (Kathy) Gamble; grandchildren Cheryle Gamble (Sheldon Kary), Chad Gamble (Lisa Zimmerman), Charmaine (Brian) Stouse, Kendra (Bryce) Thompson, Brad Gamble, Brock Gamble and Burke (Jaden) Gamble; great-grandchildren Brenden Gamble, Madeline, Ava and Zoe Stouse, Mackenzie and Makaylin Thompson, Elizabeth and Boston Gamble.  Marguerite is also survived by family friend Michael Braddock, her sister Mary McEachern,  sisters-in-law Evelyn Bradley and Amie Gamble, brother-in-law Leonard Gamble and several nieces and nephews.  Marguerite’s family was the joy in her life, and her smile and kind and loving ways will live on through them.

Marguerite’s funeral service was held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Whitewood United Church with Rev.  Barbara Wilkins officiating.  Her good friends Helen Jeannot and Rita Raiwet were register attendants.  The pianist, Bonnie Velestuk, led in the singing of the hymns “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Here I am Lord” and “How Great Thou Art”.  Marguerite’s granddaughters Cheryle Gamble, Charmaine Stouse and Kendra Thompson shared memories of their grandmother.  Interment took place in the Whitewood Cemetery with  Chad Gamble, Brad Gamble, Brock Gamble, Burke Gamble, Brenden Gamble and Michael Braddock acting as pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, those so wishing may make a gift of remembrance to the Whitewood Community Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.  Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood, SK.
