BOYARSKI – It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Roy Boyarski on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015 at the age of 66 years.
Roy is predeceased by his father, William Boyarski; and mother, Elizabeth (Macala) Boyarski; his father-in-law, Chris Kohlenberg; and mother-in-law, Emma (Serfas) Kohlenberg.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his wife, Gayle (Kohlenberg) Boyarski; and their daughter, Brittany; in-laws, Brian (Heather) Kohlenberg, Warren (Nancy) Kohlenberg, Alan (Dina) Kohlenberg, Gwen (Brad) Straub; and numerous nieces and nephews; his Godchildren, Jenna Straub and Tyler Michael; his aunt, Doris and uncle Abe Hiebert; and his aunt, Anita Macala.
Roy was a dedicated, hard-working husband, father and son, always putting his loved ones first. He worked for CN Railway as a carman for more than 35 years. Later on in retirement, he enjoyed working in produce at Extra Foods until the time of his death. He enjoyed this part-time job, taking pride in his work and visiting with customers.
Roy was well-known for his green thumb. He developed a love of gardening at a young age from his mother, and enjoyed many hours of gardening with Betty. His flower gardens were admired by the neighbourhood and he was always willing to share his knowledge.
Roy married Gayle Kohlenberg on May 17, 1975 in Melville, Sask. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on May 17, 2015. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Brittany Lynn on Oct. 14, 1992, the light of his life. Roy and Brittany spent countless hours listening to his vast collection of music, and watching sports. He was very proud of Brittany and supported her in all of her activities, especially bowling, traveling to many places in Saskatchewan for her tournaments.
Roy had a love of hockey, going to the Melville Millionaires hockey games with Brittany. He and Gayle spent many years as billets for several hockey players, including Darcy Boisson, their “hockey son” — a special relationship that still exists today.
Roy had many hobbies that revolved around nature, science and a love of knowledge. He spent a lotof time studying birds, building large fish aquariums in their home, and watching many shows on space. Roy will be greatly missed.
Donations in Roy’s memory can be made to the Melville Rail Station Heritage Association for the rail station restoration project.
