Maciorowski – Olga Maciorowski, May 26, 1918 – Oct. 25, 2015.
It is with sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville,
Sask.
Olga was born on May 26, 2018 in Sanok, Poland and was one of 11 children. Olga met her
future husband, Roman, in Germany during the war and they married after the Second World War ended. The couple moved to Belgium where their son, Chester, was born. After three years residing in Belgium, they immigrated to Canada, sailing to St. John, N.B., then on to Montreal by rail where daughter Mary was born. The following year they relocated to Winnipeg where daughter Helen was born. Mom and dad worked hard and saved all their lives so their children could have a better life. This strong work ethic was instilled in their three children.
Mom loved a spotlessly clean house. She was famous for her chocolate cake and very special birthday tortes. She had a green thumb, growing beautiful flower gardens and high-yielding vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing, creating beautiful pieces and sharing them with family and friends.
Olga and Roman made several visits back to Poland over the years, but there was no place like home in Canada. They lived in gratitude all their lives for the life they enjoyed in Canada. They were the proudest Canadians! In 2000, when they could no longer manage on their own, mom and dad moved
to Melville, Sask. where daughter Helen and family lived, and where they remained until their passing.
On Nov. 2, 2015, a funeral mass was celebrated at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Winnipeg with interment at the Holy Ghost Cemetery.
Olga was predeceased by a daughter, Kristyna, in infancy; and by her husband, Roman, in 2005.
Olga leaves behind to cherish her memory: son, Chester (Heather) of Calgary; grandsons, Michael (Becky) of Dartmouth, great-granddaughter, Olivia; Reid (Sarah) of Calgary; Ben (Hannah) of Calgary, great-grandson, Heike; daughter, Mary (Barry) of Vancouver; daughter, Helen (Doug) Achtymichuk of Melville; granddaughters, Shawna (Dennis) of Edmonton, Kelsey (Davis) Kuntz of Pilot Butte, great-granddaughters, Emerson and Everly; and grandson, Brady (Leanne).
The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Paul Lutheran Home for their kindness and the excellent care extended to our mother.
You asked so little and gave so much. Rest in peace Mom.
Local arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
