Date of Birth: September 25, 1943

Date of Death: November 14, 2015

GRIFFITH – Morgan John Griffith was born in Yorkton, Sask., on Sept. 25, 1943, to Amos and Aggie Griffith.
He attended Luton School, then Bangor until 1959, when he quit to farm full time with his
father. He had wanted to farm since he was five, and he kept farming until he retired in 2014, seeing the farm through its 100 years as a family farm in 2013.
Morgan married Susan in 1984 “after breaking his hip and being unable to run away”. He enjoyed being a “sorta normal” son-in-law. Together they raised two children, Kari and Lindsay, of whom he was exceedingly proud and took credit for their good genes. Morgan achieved a dream when he and Susan went to Wales in 2012 with Iowa cousins and saw the old family farms. He loved his family and his friends. He enjoyed teasing, visiting, music, watching news and politics, John Deere tractors, learning about farm equipment and attending Heritage Days activities, and talking on the phone for hours (even to complete strangers!). Faith, family, friends, farming and fun meant everything to him.
Morgan’s health began to fail in the summer of 2015, and he passed away quickly and painlessly in the hospital on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 at the age of 72 years, with his wife at his side.
Morgan is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Kari (Mike) Orosz, and Lindsay; granddaughter, Gwyneth Orosz; brother, Lloyd (Pam) Griffith; sisters, Donna (Brian) Roebuck and Gloria (Kal) Rathgeber; mother-in-law, Aileen Jamieson; brothers-in-law, Bill (Sharon) Jamieson and Scott (Cindy) Jamieson; sister-in-law, Jean (Bent) Nielsen; aunt, Marion (Ken) Dunn; many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be often quoted, missed by many, and remembered with love and laughter.
A service was held on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daryl Woods presiding.
Interment took place in the Atwater Cemetery with Rudy Appel, Barry Griffith, Eugene Griffith, Bob Hawcutt, Andy Orosz and Murray Pask acting as pallbearers.
Donations in lieu of flowers in Morgan’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Movember Canada or charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
