HAAS – It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved mother and grandmother, Helen Haas.
Helen was born on May 14, 1927 to Nick and Eva (Flegel) Rogalski and grew up in Killaly, SK. She attended Wymer School for 11 years, took her Grade 12 at Grayson High School and attended Moose Jaw Teacher’s College. Helen taught school at Peace, a country school in Lemberg; Hauer, Ferrell, and Marieval schools, retiring in 1982.
Frank and Helen were united in marriage July 30, 1951, at St. Elizabeth’s Roman Catholic Church in Killaly. They lived in the teacherage at Hauer School and then moved to a farm in the Grayson area. In 1960 they established a permanent family farm north of Grayson and in 1968 moved into town. For the last six years she had resided at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.
Our mother enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and travelling with her family. She was an expert homemaker and a wonderful cook. The dedication and love mom had in everything she did for her family was remarkable and we, as her family, are grateful.
Mom was a person of great faith. Prayer was a key part of her life and those values were passed on to us.
Helen entered her eternal rest on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville at the age of 88 years. She was a true leader, a matriarch, was and always will be greatly loved. She will be sincerely missed, remaining forever in our hearts.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Frank; parents, Nick and Eva Rogalski (Flegel); in-laws, Frank and Helen Haas (Reising); sister in law, Elsie Rogalski.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her four children and their families: Kathleen (Erv) Henderson of Yorkton and family, Allison (Garth) Hunter and children, Ewan and Ava; Laura (Alex) Shylo and children, Stephan and Jacob; Jonathan (Heather Lake) Henderson and daughter, Evelyn; Stephanie (Rylan) Rogers; Elizabeth Zorn and her family, Michelle Zorn, Christopher Zorn (Christina), Jeffrey Zorn, Jason Zorn (Rebecca) and Kristen Zorn (Brandin); Herb (Monica) Haas and family, Michael (Jannah) Haas and children, Hailey and Abigail; Jocelyn (Jeremy) Dyckson and children, Laya and Tristan; Graham (Shayla) Haas; Bryon (Jane) Haas and family, Matthew (Mandy) Haas and children, Isla and Everett; Mitchell (Leah) Haas and children, Drew and Beckett; Ellyse Haas (Derrick Lake) and son, Connor; Jordan Haas; her brothers, Edwin (Anne) Rogalski; Art (Eleanor) Rogalski; Nick (Teresa) Rogalski; Robert (Shirley) Rogalski; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
