ULMER – Brenda Ulmer, beloved wife of Darrell Ulmer of Neudorf, Sask., passed away peacefully with her husband by her side, on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at the age of 51 years.
Brenda was born on Jan. 28, 1964 to Edward and Evelyn (nee Karius) Leier in Melville. She was baptized and confirmed at the Christ Lutheran Church in Neudorf. Later in life Brenda became a member of the Catholic faith at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Killaly. Brenda grew up in Torquay, Melville and Neudorf and graduated from high school in Regina.
On June 10, 1983, Brenda married Darrell Ulmer at Christ Lutheran Church in Neudorf. They were blessed with three children, Landon, Kaylee and Shayla. Brenda and Darrell raised their family in the community of Neudorf. During this time they owned and operated C&C Bus Lines, providing transportation for the local schools. Brenda was also employed at the community grocery store and Horizon Credit Union.
Brenda was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. She was a hard worker and took pride in her baking. She enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and camping with her family and friends. Brenda and Darrell loved to dance and go on their annual holiday with their close group of friends. Throughout her life, Brenda was committed to fundraising for the Rett Syndrome Association, participating on the church board and volunteering for many community activities, as well as serving on the Neudorf Parks and Recreation Board for many years.
Brenda was very caring and patient. She always took the time to help out anywhere that help was needed. Brenda’s organizational skills were outstanding. She not only had her daily life planned, but the lives of those around her, especially her children. She was always thinking of everyone around her, wanting to ensure that everyone was happy and looked after.
Brenda leaves to dearly miss her and cherish her memory: her husband, Darrell; her son, Landon (Jillian); her daughters, Kaylee and Shayla; her parents, Edward and Evelyn; her brother, Glenn (Bev) and family, Melissa (Chris), Jordan (Rena) and Jennifer (Kris and Linden); her sister, Corrine (Glenn) and family, Neil and Nolan; her brother, Owen (Marilyn) and family, Victoria and Hilary; her sister, Patty (Brian) and family, Treighton, Brendan and Brooklyn; Darrell’s parents, Chris and Betty; Darrell’s sister, Deb (Al) and family, Dawn (Kory, Falon and Kruz); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A vigil service was held Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, Killaly with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Mutavanattu presiding.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday, Nov. 6, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Church with Fr. Thomas celebrating. Participants in the services were: music, Leo Exner, Linda Jansen, Carol Kosedy, Stacey Kosedy, Samantha Cabylis and
Kyle Kosedy; ushers, Marvin Adolph and Murray Krieger; scripture readings, Owen Leier, Patty Litzenberger, Kathy Sies and Leanne Hollinger; Prayer of the Faithful, Corrine Janssen and Berta Medeiros; eulogy, Kim Hodson and Paula Tiefenbach; poem, Jan Adolph. Honorary pallbearers were: Al Goldstone, Brian Litzenberger, Terry Schienbein, Karen Krieger, Glenda Schienbein and all those who knew and loved Brenda.
Interment took place in the Neudorf Cemetery with Alan Jansen, Stuart Sies, Larry Hollinger, Glenn Leier, Cory Stoll and Deb Goldstone acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
