ADAMS – Genevieve Adams (nee Wassil) of Melville , Sask., passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2015 at the age of 89 years.
Gen was born Aug. 17, 1926, on the family farm, to Agnes and Adam Wassil. She was the third eldest of six children: Vi, Jim, Gen, Alice, Marvel and Midge. During her early years, Gen attended Success School until the age of 14, when she contracted tuberculosis. She enjoyed many
sporting activities, family picnics and school functions throughout her youth.
Gen met the love of her life, William (Bill) Adams, and they were joined in marriage in April of 1951. They were soon blessed with four daughters: Gail, Linda, Cheryl and Judy.
Throughout the years, Gen enjoyed volunteering her time with the CWL and hospital auxiliary. She was an avid bowler with the Thursday Night Ladies bowling league. She enjoyed this very much and looked forward to it every week. Gen also was an exceptional Tupperware sales lady. She travelled extensively throughout the province hosting parties and selling her product. She found great pleasure spending time with family and friends, whether it was at church, coffee row at Nellie’s Bakery, or getaways at the family cabin at Crooked Lake. Her grandchildren were such a joy to spoil. She welcomed everyone with loving arms and a warm home.
Due to her deteriorating health, Gen sold the family-built home on 6th Avenue West and moved to the Legion Manor. Then in September of 2014, she moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home, where she remained until the evening of her passing. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by those who knew her.
Gen was predeceased by her brother, Jim; parents, Agnes and Adam; sister Vi; brothers-in-law, Clarence, Art and Palmer; sister-in-law, Ramona; son-in-law, Don; nephew, Scott; and three great-grandbabies in infancy.

(Kayla Kilba), Mackenzie, BC; Travis Currie (Joanna Skalid), Mackenzie, BC; Danielle (Jason) Maier, Regina, SK; Rob (Leanne) Barnett, Martensville, SK; Corinne Barnett (Jeff Marshall), Regina, SK; Cody Sauer (Steph Dimen), Regina, SK; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, Tristan, Ashton, Emma, Jack, Kyle, Kylana, Samantha, Aiden, Jordyn, Jade, Brayden, Nathan, Skylar, Truce,
Emerson and Zach; her sisters, Alice Banister, Duncan, BC; Marvel Wassill, Victoria, BC; and Midge (Elmer) Walden, Saskatoon, SK; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A vigil service was held Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville with Pat Walton and Lottie Wihak presiding. Gen’s daughters, Gail and Judy, and dear friend, Barb Hornung, paid tribute and shared their memories.
Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Gen on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015 at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church, Melville with the Rev. Fr. Mitch Burdzy, OMI, celebrating. Yvette Beutel led the music and the eucharistic ministers were Rosalie Woloschuk and Barb Hornung. The readers were granddaughters, Danielle Maier, Leslie Holliday and Corinne Barnett. All of Gen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were considered honorary pallbearers and the active pallbearers were Rob Barnett, Cody Sauer, Clint Holliday, Kyle Hansen, Christopher Holliday and Ashton Katerenchuk.
Interment took place in St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery, Melville.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
