KLETCHKO – Rosalie (nee Rieger) Kletchko was born on Feb. 8, 1921 in, the Grayson district of Saskatchewan, a daughter of Mathies and Annie (nee Exner) Rieger.
Rose, as she was known to family and friends, grew up on a farm in the Grayson area and received her education at the Columbia School. As a young girl she helped her parents on the family farm.
On Oct. 20, 1941, Rose was united in marriage to Joseph Kletchko at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Grayson. The couple farmed where Joe grew up. In 1953 they built a house in Grayson and drove out to do the farm work until selling the farm in 1972 due to Joe’s health. Rose took an active part in making the farm grow and looked after the children.
Rose was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, a group leader with the church ladies and a member of the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, golfing, watching TV and playing cards.
Rose entered her eternal rest on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville at the age of 94 years.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joe; her daughter, Jane Gelowitz; son-in-law, Pete Maksymec; one sister, Annie Hickie; eight brothers, Matt, Frank, Jim, Joe, John, George, Chris and Tony.
Rose leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish memory: her children, Jerry (Mona) Kletchko of Nanaimo, BC; Geraldine Maksymec of Regina, SK; Elaine (Brian) Hartwig of Selkirk, MB; and Nancy (John) Gyug of Grayson, SK; son-in-law, Allan (Pat) Gelowitz of Grayson, SK; 13 grandchildren and 21 great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Eva Rieger of Grayson, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and relatives
