Margaret Evelyn Laura Daniel passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at the age of 77 years, following complications due to a stroke. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 59 years, George and daughters Marie Lundin (Barry), Arlene Bender (Calvin) and Shirley Davidson (Michael).
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one sister Mildred; and one brother-in-law Lorne. She was predeceased by her parents, Clark and Laura Hales; parents-in-law Will and Ruth Daniel; two brothers, Edward and Douglas; sister-in-law Shirley Daniel; sister and brother-in-law Pat and Les Daniel; brother-in-law Walter Gutenberg; and niece Shelley Pfeiffer.
Margaret was a very hardworking woman all her life. She and George shared many happy hours in their garden, which resulted in the most delicious fresh vegetables (enough for the whole family), canning of tomatoes, jams and dill pickles. We will all miss her wonderful meals, baking and her special plum pudding at Christmas.
Rest in peace Margaret, mom, grandma and great grandma. We love you!
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood, with Mark Matthews leading the service. Recordings of the songs “Hallelujah”, “Abide with Me” and “How Great Thou Art” were played as a tribute to Margaret. Daughters Marie, Arlene and Shirley lit candles of remembrance, and the eulogy was presented by son-in-law Barry. Her grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason, read a tribute poem, and Jennifer acted as the urn bearer.
Interment followed in the Whitewood Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood.
