Robert Edgar Talbot unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026 at age 79.
He will be missed by many, including his wife, Denise Talbot; daughters Tara Talbot (Dustin Cross) and Leah Talbot; son Mitch Talbot (Selena Talbot); grandchildren Harlyn Talbot, Kiera Kew, Zac Kew, Davin Cross, Carys Cross, Rylan Talbot and Declan Talbot; his sisters Donna McNaughton and Mary Lou Ackerman; and numerous “relations” as he would describe them with some (usually dry) humour, on both sides of the family.
He was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Mary Talbot, and more recently by his sisters’ husbands Dwight McNaughton and Ed Ackerman, whose untimely deaths affected him deeply.
He spent his entire life in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask. where he worked and played hard. He both curled and played broomball when he was younger and always partook with enthusiasm in any festivities that followed games and
tournaments. He spent most of his career operating Fort Septic, as partner and later sole proprietor, which allowed him to travel throughout the Qu’Appelle Valley and surrounding areas where he enjoyed interacting with all those he met. Nobody knew or loved the Valley like he did. He liked to visit with his friends and neighbours and many of them became like family over the years. He seemed to know everybody, which was incredibly handy when someone he cared about needed something fixed, purchased, or completed, as they always knew they were dealing with the good, honest people who had crossed his path time and again. He enjoyed the outdoors: caring for his yard, feeding the birds, and sitting by many campfires. He was proud of his community, his family, and the hard-working life he enjoyed with vigour.
Robert’s family wishes to send a special thank you to the nurses on Unit 6A at the Regina General Hospital for their kindness during his short hospital stay.
Friends and family are asked to join the Talbots for a Celebration of a Life Well Lived at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask. and bring an appetite, fond memories, and a safe ride home.
