Evelyn Irene Chubak passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2026 in William Alberta House, Emerald Park, SK, at the age of 87 years. She was born on Nov. 12, 1938 in Lestock, SK.
She was predeceased by her parents Steve and Jean Molnar; husband John Chubak; sister Rita Nameth; brother Oscar Molnar; and grandson Matthew Chubak.
Evelyn is survived by her four children: Cindy, Sandy, Jeff and Scott; four grandchildren: Brandi, Jocelyn, Marley and Vanessa; nine great-grandchildren: Dominic, Vienna, Akeria, Emmet, Chloe, Jacob, Phoenix, Ariella and Annabella; and her siblings: Billy, Jeannie, Barb and Kathie.
Evelyn grew up on the family homestead, close to Lestock, SK. She left home to attend school in St. Gabriel Convent in Lebret, SK, where she received her grade 12 diploma. She married her husband John in 1960. They moved to Cupar in 1967 and finally made roots in Fort Qu’Appelle, SK in 1969.
Evelyn will be remembered for her devotion to her church and community. She was a member of the CWL with the Roman Catholic Church in Fort Qu’Appelle for many years and after retirement she volunteered her time to many causes. Her calendar was always full. She had many passions: gardening (everyone remembers Evelyn’s garden), Bridge, curling, golfing, dancing and the list goes on. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family. She was also a dear friend to so many and whether it was making bouquets from her garden for a wedding, or going and playing bridge with her friends, or dancing the afternoon away, Evelyn enjoyed life to the fullest.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026. The funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. The interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK after mass,
followed by a luncheon in Our Lady of Sorrows RC church.
