The family of Barbara Gayle Koroluk sadly announce her passing on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 at the age of 67. Barb was born in Yorkton on Oct. 18, 1958. She was the oldest of three children to Mike and Isabelle Lys.
Her early years were lived in Sturgis before the family moved to Yorkton. As a child and teenager, Barb was involved in Youth Bowling where twice she was on Team Saskatchewan competing at nationals. She played both fastball and ice hockey and she was a lifeguard and swim instructor. Barb graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton and completed a diploma in Renewable Resources from Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. It was at Kelsey that Barb met Bob Koroluk and they were wed in 1981. Barb and Bob lived their entire marriage in Regina, where they raised their three children, Laura born in 1985, Steven in 1987, and Jeffrey in 1991.
Barb’s “happy place” was always Crystal Lake where she has spent most of her summers since 1965. Barb was fiercely loyal to her close friends, staying in contact with them for life. Barb was devoted to her family, being the pillar upon whom family events were organized. Barb was dedicated to her children, being Guide leader, Band chaperone, school field trip chaperone, and sports team manager for her children’s activities. Barb loved planning holidays. Everyone trusted that she would find the best travel destinations, routes, and activities. Barb was also an artist, a nature enthusiast, a landscaper, and many other wonderful things that added joy to her life and to the lives of those around her.
Barb was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022. Her treatment, often debilitating, never slowed her down. She always said she was “living with cancer, not dying from cancer.” Barb leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Bob Koroluk, her children and grandchildren – Laura (Kris Gendall), Anna and Jacob Gendall; Steven (Michelle
Gagnon), Eva and Eleanor Koroluk; Jeffrey Koroluk. She also leaves behind: parents, Mike and Isabelle Lys; sister
Cheryl (George) Thompson; brother Colin (Leslie) Lys; mother-in-law Nellie Koroluk; sisters-in-law Sandra
Hunchuk, Cynthia (Paul) Beaubien, Brenda Grazier; brother-in-law Nick Koroluk. Barb also leaves many very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Barb was predeceased by her father-in-law, Gust Koroluk and brother-in-law Cliff Grazier.
The Memorial Service was held on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre, Yorkton, SK with Rev. Luanne Hrywkiw officiating. The eulogy was delivered by Carole Morsky and Carol Erickson. Cheryl Thompson read scripture. The urn bearer was Colin Lys.
