His family are heartbroken to learn that our dear brother and uncle, Mervin Peter Buddick, of Neudorf, SK, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at 63 years of age. Mervin was the sixth child born to Steve and Christina Buddick.
He had three brothers: Raymond (deceased), Larry Buddick (Carol) of Winnipeg, Vincent Buddick of Nanoose Bay, BC. He had three sisters: Christine (Bob) Scott of Calgary. He was predeceased by Shirley Montgomery of Carman, MB, and Beverly Buddick of Winnipeg. His three older sisters took on a motherly role to young Mervin, supporting and helping him throughout his adult life, often housing him when he was homeless.
Also mourning his passing are two nieces: Debb Roeke (Colin) of Calgary, Star Courtoreille (Justin) of Grand Prairie, AB, and two nephews: Gordon Montgomery (Korea), and Jamie Montgomery (Brandon, MB).
Mervin was raised in a strong Catholic family, attending Mass every Sunday. He was a charming, sweet and kind boy who loved animals, especially his pet cat Muffin.
A near-fatal car accident in his youth left Mervin with devastating facial deformation, a severe brain injury and mental illness. In 2007, after an aunt’s inheritance, he bought a home in Neudorf, where he resided until his passing.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mervin’s memory may be made to the Schizophrenia Society of Saskatchewan.
