Date of Birth: May 14, 1927
Date of Death: October 6, 2025
Albert was born to Rudolph and Natalia (nee Kwast) Steffan on May 14, 1927, on the family farm in the Duff district. He attended Yola School, and, when he had completed his education, he worked on the family farm with his father and mother.
On May 28, 1952, Albert married Martha Schindel in Bethany Evangelical Church in Melville. Together they worked on the farm and raised their two daughters. In 1996 they retired to Melville, where they enjoyed socializing with many friends and family. They resided in Melville until October 2020 when they moved to Regina to be closer to their two girls. Four years later, in October of 2024, it became apparent that they could no longer live without assistance, and they moved to St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville. That was Dad’s home until his passing into eternity on Monday, Oct. 6, 2025. The family is very grateful for the excellence of care shown to our dad.
Dad was very involved in the Evangelical Church for many years. He also served as Division 2 Councillor in the RM of Stanley from Jan. 1, 1981, until Dec. 31, 1999. During his tenure, he served on many boards and committees: Yorkton-Melville Regional Health Board, St. Peter’s Hospital Board, the Fire Protection Association, the RCMP Consulting Group and the Regional Park Board. He was also Deputy Reeve for nine of those years. Dad was a very humble man, and he considered it an honour and privilege to serve in these positions of trust.
Albert is lovingly remembered by his wife, Martha; daughters Gloria Gregorash (Doug) and Deborah Rondeau (George); his grandchildren, Lowell Gregorash (Jen), Jordan Gregorash (Tiffany), Emerson Rondeau and Elliott Rondeau; and his great-grandchild, Oliver Gregorash.
A private family graveside service was held in Melville City Cemetery with the Rev. Dawn Myrfield officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
