On Sunday morning, Aug. 31, 2025, our mother, Betty Grace Meeko (Reid) passed. She was 94 years old.
Betty was born in Melville on March 24, 1931. She grew up on a farm north of Melville and attended Runneberg School and the Melville public schools. On Dec. 4, 1950, she married William R. Meeko.
Betty and Bill resided, raised their family and enjoyed a full life in Melville, Saskatchewan. She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, William; her parents, Myrtle and James Reid; and brother-in-law Willys Reed. She is survived by her children, Stephen, David and Patti; her grandchildren, Joel, Brittainy and Reid; great-grandchildren, Danika, Deneka, Jack, Henry, Josh and Zoe; brother George (Wynn), sister Gloria and brother Jack; nieces and nephews; special friends David and Lynn Litzenberger; and friends and neighbours.
Betty’s family would like to thank all the staff at St. Paul Lutheran Home for the care given to their mother and grandmother.
A funeral service was held for Betty on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at First United Church, Melville, with the Rev. Brian Mee officiating. The pianist was Gaylene Matthews, and tributes to Betty were offered by the Rev. Dawn Myrfield, Lynn Litzenberger and Stephen Meeko. Members of the United Church Choir and the United Church Women, with whom Betty served over the years, were considered honorary bearers. Interment took place in the Melville City Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
