Date of Birth: August 25, 1956

Date of Death: March 15, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Patricia (Pat) Bauldic announces her passing on Friday, March 15, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Patricia was born in Melville on Aug. 25, 1956, to Wilfred and Elsie Appel; she was the eldest of five children. Pat was active from an early age, taking part in Girl Guides and YBC bowling. Her strong work ethic was evident early on when she babysat for numerous families, looked after her siblings and helped with the family business. She also worked at the Cameo Cafe and the Dairy Queen.
Pat met the love of her life, Peter, while working at the Dairy Queen, and on Feb.14, 1976, she became Peter’s wife and stepmother to Sherry and Kelly. In 1982 they welcomed another daughter, Melissa, and in 1984 another son, Robert. Family was important to Pat, so she made the decision to stay home and raise the children. Once the kids were old enough, she re-entered the workforce, first at the Prince William Hotel and then at the Flamingo Restaurant, where she stayed until early retirement due to illness.
Pat faced many challenges with her health over the years which prevented her from doing all of the things she loved to do, but she always had a smile on her face and made the best of every day by trying to enjoy the little things. She loved bingo, canasta, bowling, baking, scrapbooking, diamond painting, playing her word game on her iPad, and spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren). If there was a Riders game or curling on TV, you would find Pat in her favourite chair tuning in. She also enjoyed home renovation shows on HGTV and cooking shows on The Food Network. In more recent years, she took a keen interest in politics and would often watch CPAC to see what was happening in the House of Commons.
Pat will be lovingly remembered for her kind and generous spirit, her sentimental handmade gifts and her humble nature. She was a strong and resilient woman, a playful and doting grandma, a devoted wife, a supportive and caring mother, and a loving, thoughtful sister. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Elsie Appel; sisters (in infancy) Mary, Lena and Margaret Appel; and nephew (godson) Mitchell Hollinger. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Peter; daughter Melissa (Kurt) Kohlenberg; son Robert (Kari)
Bauldic; stepdaughter Sherry Bauldic; stepson Kelly (Denise) Bauldic; grandchildren Chaise, Destin and Lena Kohlenberg, Luke, Connor and Tess Bauldic, Jordan Bauldic, and Kayl and Kamdyn Bauldic; sisters Kathy Appel, Debbie (Gilbert) Hollinger and Bernie (Wayne) Nowoselski; brother Ernie (Laurie) Appel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Pat’s funeral service was held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville, with the Rev. Brian Mee and Deacon Dave Hudy officiating. The organist was Gaylene Matthews, and Jacqueline Rathgeber read scripture. Pat’s siblings, Debbie Hollinger, Bernie Nowoselski and Ernie Appel, shared their memories of her life. All of Pat’s grandchildren were considered honorary bearers, and the urn bearers were grandsons Chaise Kohlenberg and Destin Kohlenberg. Pat’s final resting place is in the Melville City Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
