Date of Birth: March 31, 1952

Date of Death: March 19, 2024

Beverly Ann Wehlen (nee Francis) died at Meadow Lake, Sask. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, just shy of her 72nd birthday.
Bev was born at Whitewood, Sask. on March 31, 1952, the only daughter of Donald and Hazel Francis. She was educated in Whitewood with special instruction at Park School and then several years of vocational training in Regina and Saskatoon.
Bev was married to John Wehlen, a kind and gentle soul, on June 8, 1973 and they lived in Whitewood until John’s passing in 1991. After that Bev moved to Regina and resided in a Community Living home where she was a frequent visitor to and made many acquaintances at “the Club”. In August of 2023 Bev moved to Meadow Lake and took up residence in the beautiful new Northwest Community Lodge but shortly thereafter she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer.
Despite her challenges Bev had a sharp wit and, at times, a sharper tongue. She had a dry sense of humor (probably inherited from her mother) and often displayed the typical Francis stubbornness. She enjoyed listening to country music and spent hours doing word search. She liked to play cards and reveled in her frequent victories over Leonard playing Skip-Bo. She especially enjoyed her annual visit to Meadow Lake to spend Christmas holidays with Leonard and Carol’s family.
Bev was predeceased by her husband, John; parents, Don and Hazel Francis; and brother, Ken Francis. Bev is survived by her brothers, Terry Francis and Leonard Francis; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Francis, Helen Brule-Francis and Carol Francis; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A graveside service will be held in Whitewood at a later date.
Bev’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Van de Venter, nurse Alana Farr and all of the staff at Northwest Community Lodge for the special care provided to Bev during her short stay.
