The family of Elsie (Frick) Hollinger wishes to announce her passing on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, SK.
Elsie was born on the family farm on Jan. 21, 1925, to John and Maria Frick. She attended Yola School, then in 1946 went to work at Fort San TB Hospital for a year.
Elsie married Karl Hollinger on Oct. 30, 1947; they were married for 76 years. Elsie and Karl moved to the farm by Lemberg and farmed until the mid-1980s when they moved to Melville.
Elsie was predeceased by a son in infancy, Shirwin; parents John and Maria Frick; brothers and sisters Johnny, Eddie, Clara, Betty-May and Mary (all in infancy), Elizabeth, Helena, Rose, Emilia (Millie), William, Edward, Emma, Henry and Evelyn. She is survived by her husband, Karl; daughter Dalyce (Dave); and sister Edna (Alec).
A private funeral service was held at St. Paul Lutheran Home on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, with Rev. Dawn Myrfield officiating. Interment took place in Melville City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home.
