The family of Edward (Eddy) Hollinger wishes to announce his passing on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, with a few family members by his side.
Edward was born July 11, 1941, to Elsa (Platz) and Valentine Hollinger at Fenwood, SK. After finishing school at Keningsberg, he went out working as hired help on farms in the area. In 1964 Edward bought his first two quarters of land. He farmed with two of his brothers Richard and Clifford until Richard’s passing in 2000. Farming continued for a few more years until health issues took over. Edward married Shirley Wendel on June 2, 2007.
Edward was predeceased by his mother, Elsa (Platz); father Valentine; an infant brother; brothers Richard, Gordon and Alfred; sisters Emma, Dorothy and Elfrieda; nephew Mitchell and niece Lorrie (Hack) McKay.
Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are: his wife, Shirley; brothers Clifford, David (Sadie) and Gilbert (Debbie); sister Alice (Wes) Rathgeber; brothers-in-law Mike Potoroka and Vern Hack; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ed’s funeral was held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 with the Rev. Lowell Dennis officiating. Interment took place in the Melville City Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
